Reclaiming Education, Rebuilding a Future

Story of Strength and Opportunity

Teenage pregnancy remains a major barrier to education in Kisumu County, which recorded a 17% teenage pregnancy rate in 2020. For many young girls, early motherhood brings school dropouts, financial hardship, and social isolation.

Vivian Awuor from Migingo experienced this reality firsthand after becoming pregnant while in Class Eight, forcing her to leave school and face an uncertain future.

The Turning Point

In 2020, Vivian joined STADA Kenya, where she found a safe space, guidance, and practical support. STADA helped her return to school, enabling her to complete her KCPE examinations and restore her confidence in education.

Recognizing the importance of skills for independence, STADA further supported Vivian to enroll in vocational training at Kidi-Lwanda, where she successfully completed a tailoring course.

The Impact

Today, Vivian is gainfully employed at STADA Kenya, earning an income that allows her to support her child and family with dignity. Her journey is a testament to the power of education, skills development, and community-driven support.

Vivian’s message to other young mothers is simple but powerful:

Never give up — with the right support, a new beginning is always possible.
