Climate Action for Resilient, Gender-Equitable Communities
Climate Program

Across the regions where we work, the climate crisis is not a future threat, it is a present and daily reality. Communities are facing prolonged droughts, unpredictable rainy seasons, destructive floods, and climate-driven displacement.

Our climate action strategy focuses on resilience, adaptation, and mitigation, with a deliberate emphasis on those most affected , women, girls, and displaced populations.

Water Resilience

We strengthen community access to clean and reliable water through borehole drilling, rainwater harvesting, groundwater protection, and training of local water user committees by reducing the burden on women and girls and improving water access for households, schools, and agriculture.

Food Security Through Sustainable Agriculture

We promote climate-smart farming practices that help smallholder farmers adapt to drought, floods, and soil degradation. Through composting, drought-resistant crops, and water-efficient irrigation, families increase productivity, improve nutrition, and build long-term food sovereignty.

Climate Adaptation: Solar Energy for Resilience

We expand access to clean energy by training women and youth in solar installation and maintenance. Solar power supports schools, water systems, and safety in displacement settings while opening pathways to green jobs and economic empowerment.

Climate Mitigation

Through local production of reusable menstrual pads, we reduce environmental waste, promote menstrual health, and help girls stay in school, especially in climate-affected and emergency contexts. This initiative also strengthens women-led enterprises and community health.

Displacement & Gendered Climate Impacts

Climate shocks are forcing families into displacement, exposing women and girls to increased risks of gender-based violence, school dropout, and health challenges. Our programs provide psychosocial support, safeguarding services, safe spaces, and leadership opportunities for displaced women and girls.

Climate Action in Practice

Our climate work delivers integrated, people-centered solutions that address both environmental and social inequalities.

  • Community-led water systems
  • Climate-smart agriculture training
  • Protection and support for displaced women and girls
  • Solar energy for off-grid communities
  • Sustainable menstrual health solutions
A People-Centered Climate Solution
Why Our Climate Approach Works

Our climate action approach is community-led and intersectional. We recognize that women and girls are often excluded from decision-making, yet they are central to community resilience.

By investing in water security, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, and menstrual health, we build solutions that help communities not only survive climate shocks, but thrive beyond them.
